Indy’s Wish-TV using TWITTER?!? That’s Beautiful News!

Crazy props to  Wish TV Channel 8 for utilizing Twitter http://twitter.com/WISH_News. This micro-news format is absolutely brilliant - especially since Twitters 140 character limit doesn’t leave much room for bias or b.s. Instead we are presented with simple straight-to-the-point Indianapolis news, that is continually being updated. I never thought I would say it, but Thanks WISH-TV!

The future of the internet is at risk (seriously) [Video]

This 10 minute video will make you smarter than all your friends on the subject of “net neutrality”, and specifically why we should REALLY REALLY be paying attention to it.

A Moment of Silence for Bo Diddley

Let’s take a moment of silence for the one of the most influential guitar legends - Bo Diddley. When your done - crank up your volume  and honor Bo’s life he way he lived it - LOUDLY. Bo died today (june 2nd) at the age of 79, due to heart failure.

The End of Everything We Know - Grab a drink

Here is a great article about the end of our universe as we know it. Fraser Cain from Universe Today summed up this excellent read in his very last paragraph. Let me summarize: Everything dies, get over it - enjoy the time that we have.

It can be said that humans have a bit of a short term view of things. We’re concerned about the end of summer, the next school year, and maybe even retirement. But these are just a blink of an eye in cosmic terms. Let’s really think big, stare forward in time, and think about what the future holds for the Universe. Look forward millions, trillions, and even 10100 years into the future. Let’s consider the end of everything.

Evan Seinfeld of Biohazard picks a fight with the Internets most influential audience.

When I was 18 I loved Biohazard, so much in fact, that I did a bunch of free artwork for them - hey I was young, idealistic and in “awe”. Over the years I had the fortune of hanging out with the guys - as well as producing shirts, album artwork and a refined logo.Biohazard split up a few years back, but to my amazement - today I saw this article on the very popular Digg.com “Biohazard Bassist Bashes BitTorrent.”

In this article Evan says: people who ’steal’ media by downloading it are “scumbags” and I will happily “kick the shit out of you”. But the real problem are BitTorrent sites.

At 18, I thought the music industry was just about the music and Biohazard made it clear that they “did it for the music”. They even have a song called Business, including the lyrics “Music’s for you and me - Not the fucking industry, You fucking tell us what is cool, You see we came from different schools”. If you ask me, this statement is exactly opposite of what Evan is now saying. (Yes I know people change, and I expect that - but this is a fundamental principal that shouldn’t change IMHO).

What Evan is forgetting, is the greatest bands of all time - the ones who have truly sustainable business models, the most loyal fans and the most profit - are the ones who let people share their music. Grateful Dead anyone?

Simply put, bands never make a boatload of coin from traditional record sales (unless they are on the charts, which Biohazard will never be) - instead, take a que from RadioHead, and make money off of Concerts and merchandise and build a long term loyal fan base.

Sorry to say it boys, the “Business” has changed - and the market place is not the same as it was 10 years ago - either you adapt or die. Music existed before the Industry - and it will be here after it too. RIP.

NASA - Total Lunar Eclipse

On Wednesday evening, February 20th, the full Moon over the Americas will turn a delightful shade of red and possibly turquoise, too. It’s a total lunar eclipse—the last one until Dec. 2010. The Sun goes down. The Moon comes up. You go out and look at the sky. Observing the eclipse is that easy. Maximum eclipse, and maximum beauty, occurs at 10:26 pm EST (7:26 pm PST).

We’re all just a bunch of ants.

When it comes to being misled, humans are no more sophisticated than ants or fish.

Implications for evacuations and how to guide people safely in an emergency will arise from the discovery that most of us are happy to play follow-my-leader, even if we are trailing after someone who does not know where they are going and taking the most meandering route.
