Brandon’s Life Log
A While back I started wondering what it would be like if I kept a journal every single day and used that information to learn more about my deep mental inner workings. Being the geek that I am, I dreaded the thoughts of having to actually hold a pen in my hand and write. I dreded even more, the thought of going through reams of paper just to find a specific event that could have caused X, Y and Z to happen in my life.Thats when I started building my life Lawg. I decided not to spend to a ton time in building the application itself, but instead I opted to use LazyBase as a starting point. LazyBase allows me to build a mini database and gives me a simple way of adding and removing fields. So what I did was defined about 20 points in my life that could be captured as a numerical rating or a boolean. Like Happiness, Sex Drive, Frustrations, Caffeine and Food Intake, Sleep patterns, Medicines taken, etc. The results are pretty interesting to say the least. Now, to be fairm Im not going to give up everything. Some things are coded and/or hidden so people cant figure out what they mean, but the majority of the data points are pretty self explanatory.Once I perfect my own logging, Im going to build a system so my wife can log her life and maybe our childrens lives. We can then do cross analysis on her log and mine.UPDATE: I stopped using the life log about 3 months in to it, while I made it usable enough - there were times that I did not have access to the web, and ultimately the results were starting to get skewed. As a result, I am planning on rebuilding but this time making an iPhone version.
